Your Partner in Presence

Expertise gets people in the door. Genuine connection and authentic presence keep them coming back.

I'm Aj Anderson, a communication coach and performing artist. Though these might look like two different careers, they're built on the same foundation: showing up fully, reading the room, and having the courage to be authentic in a shared experience.

On the consulting side, my background spans education, beauty, corporate, and the luxury industry. I'm a licensed cosmetologist and still style clients privately today, some relationships lasting years, which is proof of what I teach: technical skill brings people in, connection and understanding is what brings them back. I've also worked as a senior-level people leader and organizational change trainer, and today I teach communication at the college level. My research focuses on communication in the beauty industry.

On the live arts side, performing has been part of my life since age three. I've trained in dance, voice, and acting ever since, and today I choreograph, perform, and produce across San Diego County, bringing the same commitment to presence and authenticity to the stage that I bring to a client conversation.

What ties it together is how much I love teaching and coaching. I care less about handing someone the "right" answer than helping them find their own, because real growth comes from people arriving at their own conclusions, not following a script. Authenticity is the whole point: I want the people I work with to leave more themselves, not less.

Ajencie exists to teach that craft. Two practices, one throughline: helping people find their own agency in the art of presence.
